Who am I?

I am Vivek, as you would have guessed from the big blog title! Born in Bangalore, pre-primary schooling in Trichy, primary schooling in Madurai, secondary in Chennai and finally graduated from National Institute of Technology, Trichy.

Surprising how I chose Computer Science as my major, I knew how to send an e-mail only the day before I entered my college. My college life was a mixed bag filled with some geeky stuff (the usual topcoder, spoj, ACM), some non-geeky (plays, drama, movie-making – will upload the short movie soon :-) ) and culminating in startup, business, entrepreneurship related things.

Some of my programming skills helped me land a job at amazon.com as a Software Development Engineer – one of the *best* ever workplaces I would say. I worked on the Kindle development team (the S/W side). I loved everything about the company – the work, team and reported to one of the most coolest manager.

The urge to start-off on my own was always present in me. One year at amazon and my love and passion to start off on my own grew to an uncontrollable extent and naturally I branched off to start interviewstreet.com with my classmate Hari on whom I could write a separate blog!My life is very random and most of the times I enjoy it! Being in a startup, the randomness is even more!

3 People whom I would love to have a coffee with!

Jeff Bezos: I just salute him! No words to say. His obsession towards customer services and making them happy is something I really awe! Absolutely lucky to have shook hands with him once, eager to chat more with him though!

Favourite Quote: “Only rarely is the cost of failure greater than the cost of not trying at all!”

Steve Jobs
Steve Jobs: Needs no introduction. His biography is one of the most inspiring books I have read. To have the guts to release a computer (when Apple was a startup, just starting off) which was twice as expensive as an IBM (or) a Microsoft PC and still stand firm in it – kudos!

Favourite Quote: “Being the richest man in the cemetery doesn’t matter to me … Going to bed at night saying we’ve done something wonderful… that’s what matters to me.”

A.R.Rahman A.R.Rahman: Almost worshiped as God! The mozart, the master, the everything. My biggest inspiration, still remember the day when I had the opportunity to barely touch his shoulder with a small notebook in my hand shouting ‘Sir, autograph please…’. Too much crowd, and couldn’t get one but the fact I saw him in such close quarters itself is like ‘wow’! Few of his tracks just are so soul stirring, it just heals all the pain – pure magic!

Favourite Quote:”All my life I have had a choice of hate and love. I chose love and I am here”
